I am currently teaching Introduction to International Relations (every quarter at SCU) and rotating through a variety of courses on: Research Design, International Law, International Human Rights, and Civil War & Terrorism. In the past I have also taught: International Organizations (fall 2016) and International Law (fall 2017 & 2018). I also led individual lab sections for Missouri's upper division methods course on Political Science Research (PS3000).
My approach to teaching political science emphasizes abstract thinking skills that allow students to process events in the real world through the lens of social science. In addition, my approach helps students build good habits of scientific inquiry that will last beyond their time in college. I value the development of oral and written skills that make students effective communicators about a broad range of topics. In addition, all of my courses include active learning activities that introduce students to ethical and strategic dilemmas in world politics while simultaneously giving them a more personal understanding of social science theories.
Here's a summary of my recent student evaluations at SCU
